Tek structures are the top building tier and the most expensive thing you can place. Element cost, boss access for the engrams and per-tile limits all bind before the layout does, so these builds assume you already have a Tek farm running.
Most Tek builds here are mixed rather than pure. Tek where the raid damage lands, metal behind it, and conventional pieces for interiors — a full Tek shell is usually a statement rather than an optimisation.
Check the engram requirements as well as the resources. Placing a Tek template needs the corresponding engrams unlocked, which means the relevant boss kills, not just the element in your inventory.

Yes. Tek structure engrams unlock from specific bosses, and Template Hammer respects engram requirements. Without the unlock the pieces will not place.

For raw durability, yes, but the multiplier is smaller than the cost multiplier. Most competitive tribes use Tek selectively — check the piece breakdown to see how a given build spends it.
Most of these already do. The material tags on each card show every tier present in the build, and the piece breakdown shows the exact split.
