Genesis Part 1 Mission Walkthrough for ASA: Easiest Missions by Biome, With and Without Good Tames

Genesis Part 1 mission planning for ARK: Survival Ascended, verified as of 2026-07-09. Hexagon values use the ASE mission table as the baseline; ASA balance can be retuned, so confirm current scoring in game.

Best answer

If you have no loot, start with Race missions across any biome. They cost no kit, give small but useful Alpha payouts, and are safer than forcing combat missions on a fresh character. If you have tameable but unmutated dinos, run Escort missions on Gamma or Beta for much better Hexagons. Once you are advanced, Alpha Escorts and Hunts are the real farm: Escorts pay 28,800 Hexagons on Alpha and Hunts pay 30,720 on Alpha in the ASE baseline.

In Genesis Part 1 the missions are the progression: every completion counts toward unlocking the Master Controller, and missions are also where Hexagons come from, so choosing which ones to run is the actual map strategy. Mission scoring can be retuned in ASA, so treat every value here as the ASE baseline and confirm current rewards in HLN-A before you build a whole farm around one route.

#Why missions are the real progression

There is no tribute altar on Genesis. The Master Controller unlocks through HLN-A's Arrival Protocol once you have enough total mission completions, and Hexagons only come from missions and from fixing Glitches. So the question is never just how do I beat this boss, it is which missions get me completions and Hexagons for the least risk. Sort by mission type first and the map gets much simpler.

#What should you farm with no loot?

Run Races first. Every biome has at least one, they hand you the mission mount, and they pay a small but real amount of Hexagons without risking a kit. In the ASE table, Alpha Races range from 750 Hexagons for The Rhino 500 to 1,500 for Saber Slalom, with most sitting around 900 to 1,425. That is not endgame money, but it is exactly the kind of early push that helps after a wipe.

The best first race is The Rhino 500 in the Arctic if you have Tek Sword unlocked from Nunatak. Its Hexagon payout is only 480 / 600 / 750, but its mission loot table has a Tek Sword special drop at about 6.15%, and a free Tek Sword is huge early-game value. If you do not have that unlock or hate the Arctic route, run any Race you can finish consistently.

  • Fresh spawn: learn Race routes first, any biome is valid.
  • Best early target with Tek Sword unlocked: The Rhino 500.
  • Race payouts are low, but the failure cost is also low.
  • Use Gauntlets for completions too, but do not treat them as the only broke-player farm.

#What if you have mid-tier tames?

Once you have decent tame lines, even without mutations, move into Escort missions on Gamma or Beta. Escorts score on the health left on the escorted creature, so the job is to keep enemies off it while it travels. In the ASE baseline, every standard Escort pays 1,800 on Gamma, 10,800 on Beta and 28,800 on Alpha. Gamma and Beta are the sweet spot for intermediate players because they pay far more than Races without demanding perfect endgame damage.

Use Rexes, Spinos, Acros, Carchas, Gigas or any high-DPS tame that can screen the route and delete spawns quickly. The exact creature matters less than whether you can keep pressure away from the escort and avoid the mission failing because nobody stays near the objective.

#What if you are advanced?

Advanced tribes should farm Alpha Escorts and Hunts instead of grinding small payouts. Alpha Escorts pay 28,800 Hexagons, and Alpha Hunts pay 30,720 in the ASE mission table. If you can bring strong DPS, saddles and riders who know the route, these become easy repeatable income rather than scary objectives.

Retrieve missions are also high-value at 1,980 / 11,880 / 31,680, and Gauntlets are even higher at 2,280 / 13,680 / 36,480. The catch is consistency: a slightly lower-paying Escort you never fail can beat a higher-paying run that eats attempts, travel time and repairs. Mound Over Matter is a Retrieve mission, not a Gather mission, and is still worth learning if ASA keeps the old reward behavior. Travel time and repairs are the part you can actually cut. A forward base in the biome you farm keeps spare kit and a repair bench next to the run, and our free FOB templates place a validated shell with its full structure list, so you are not designing one between missions.

#How do you clear the Bog missions?

The Bog kills mission runners with toxic hazards and Bloodstalkers in the canopy. For a no-loot route, learn "King of Swing" Grand Prix and Bog Rally as Race completions, then add Bog Fishin' or Gather missions for easy totals. If you have damage, Cheaper by the Pack, Spy Vs Spino, Swamp Placid and Web Search are Hunts paying 1,920 / 11,520 / 30,720, while Just a Hop, Skip, and a Jump Away is the Bog Escort at 1,800 / 10,800 / 28,800. A tamed Bloodstalker, covered in the creature guide, makes the whole biome easier to move through.

#How do you clear the Arctic missions?

The Arctic threat is environmental: blizzards and cold chew through an underprepared survivor before any creature does, so pack fur and food even on budget runs. Start with The Rhino 500 if you want the Tek Sword loot angle, then add Saber Slalom once you know the route. Built Fjord Tough is a Gauntlet with a strong payout but is more of a combat completion than a pure farm for broke players. For geared runs, Home Is Where the Pouch Is is the Escort, and Hyde and Seek plus other Arctic Hunts are the higher-DPS targets.

#How do you clear the Ocean missions?

The Ocean is the most punishing biome for underprepared runners because depth, whirlpools and oxygen management can end a run before a creature touches you. Bottle-nosed Blitz and Wave Ray 64 are the no-kit Race options, with Wave Ray 64 paying 790 / 990 / 1,235. Echo of a Classic and Rip It, Roll It, and Punch It! are Escorts at 1,800 / 10,800 / 28,800, but do not treat them as starter missions unless you can handle the water route. One Tough Moeder is the Ocean mini-boss and remains a geared, grouped objective.

#How do you clear the Volcanic and Lunar missions?

Volcanic budget runners should learn Dead Heat and Gotta Go Fast before forcing combat. Gotta Go Fast is the Doedicurus race at 575 / 720 / 900, while Dead Heat pays 840 / 1,050 / 1,310. The Summit Tour is the Volcanic Escort at 1,800 / 10,800 / 28,800, and the Volcanic Hunts pay 1,920 / 11,520 / 30,720 if your DPS can handle the heat.

Lunar is rough because low gravity, oxygen vents and solar rays punish mistakes. Tokyo Skifft is the Race route at 910 / 1,140 / 1,425, This Little Light of Mine is the Escort, and A Captain's Conquest, Hunting by Moonlight, It's a Bug Hunt and King of the Moon are geared Hunt targets. Mound Over Matter belongs in the Retrieve bucket at 1,980 / 11,880 / 31,680, so call it a high-value objective, not a Gather mission.

#What is the fastest path to the first Master Controller unlock?

For the first Gamma gate, chain cheap completions without pretending they all pay the same. Start with Races across every biome, add low-risk Fishing, Gather and Sport missions where you are comfortable, then use Gamma or Beta Escorts as soon as your tames can protect the target. Geared tribes can interleave Hunts from the start because the payout is high and completions still count toward the boss gate.

The exact Master Controller thresholds are in the Master Controller guide. Confirm current mission counts and scoring in game, since ASA can retune them.

#When a mission service makes sense

A mission service makes sense when the gate itself is the bottleneck: you need completions, Hexagons or a route you do not want to learn under pressure. If you are broke, a package that clears safe Race and easy mission completions can jump-start the map. If you are advanced, paying for Alpha Escort or Hunt clears is mainly about time saved and consistency. Ask in Discord what Genesis coverage is live before assuming every mission package is available.
