ARK: Survival Ascended Dino Trap Templates

Traps are the single best use of Template Hammer. They are small, they are geometry-sensitive, and building one by hand at the wrong ratio wastes both the trap and the tame. A validated template places the same working trap every time.

The builds here run from six to twenty-four structures, which means you can carry the materials on a bird and drop a trap in the field rather than dragging a target home. Sizes are matched to what they hold: an Argentavis trap is not a Rex trap.

Ramp and doorframe traps depend on the target's collision box, so pick the trap for the creature you are hunting rather than the largest one available. The piece breakdown on each page tells you exactly what the trap is made of.

Template pages publish official crafting costs with visible recipe coverage. Modded pieces and files still awaiting an exact breakdown remain clearly uncosted; their requirements are never estimated.

Common questions

Which trap should I use for which creature?

Match the trap name to the target class. Argentavis and other mid-size fliers need a tall narrow box; ground creatures up to Rex size need a wider ramp-and-gate design. The description on each template states its intended target.

Can I place a trap on sloped terrain?

Poorly. Traps rely on exact snapping, so foundations on uneven ground leave gaps a creature can clip through. Find flat ground or pillar-and-ceiling a level base first.

How much does a trap cost to place?

Very little compared to a base — most of these are under thirty structures. The piece breakdown on each page names every stone, wood and metal part and its count, so you can pack for one trip.

Do stone traps hold against a wild Rex?

Stone holds most things you would want to trap, but large aggressive creatures will damage it. Bring spare pieces or use the metal variants if you are trapping something that hits hard.
