ASA Official PvE Genesis Farming: Plan a 30 or 60 Minute Session

ARK: Survival Ascended, official x1 PvE crossplay. Planning advice for the live server rules; not single-player or boosted unofficial settings.

Best answer

Choose one objective before leaving: gathered resources, a mission item or repeat-solo Hexagons. Measure the full cycle, including travel and reset time, and reserve time to return. A 30 or 60 minute plan should use your completion times, not an assumed universal farming rate.

Three different jobs often get called “Genesis farming”: gathering a material, repeating a mission for an item and earning Hexagons. They use different evidence and should not be ranked by one number. Start with the result you need, then use the matching resource tool.

#For materials, plan the whole trip

Use the Genesis resource atlas to research locations. Choose a destination that fits your equipment and a route you can complete on the current server. A mapped location does not guarantee an available node when you arrive or establish a harvesting yield.

Include travel, gathering, carrying capacity and the return trip in your time budget. Time one manageable trip and record what you actually brought home. If you change creature, equipment, route or event conditions, measure again instead of treating the previous yield as a permanent rate.

#For an item, search the mission loot first

Open the Genesis mission loot finder, search your target item and inspect the missions and reward details it shows. Read the finder labels for the selected item and difficulty; do not treat a published loot rate as a guarantee that the next run awards it.

  1. Choose the actual item you want, including whether the result is equipment or a blueprint.
  2. Compare candidate missions you can complete reliably.
  3. Measure the full completion cycle for those candidates.
  4. Pick the option that fits your available time and equipment.
  5. Set a stopping point and review your results after the session.

The finder describes the published dataset. This guide does not duplicate its reward tables or replace its rate definitions. A short dry spell is not evidence that an item is absent, and a theoretical reward advantage may be unhelpful if you cannot finish that mission consistently.

#For Hexagons, use repeat-solo rewards and your time

The Hexagon calculator pairs the selected mission and difficulty's published repeat reward with your measured run minutes and downtime. Its rate is round(repeat reward × 60 / (run minutes + downtime minutes)).

First-completion bonuses and group reward behavior are not included in that repeat-solo estimate. Do not enter a best-ever finish while ignoring failed attempts, waiting or the time needed to start again. Empty or invalid times do not establish a farming rate.

#Example: a 30 minute session

Suppose you have 30 minutes and reserve 6 for preparation and returning. If your measured run takes 8 minutes and the reset or travel between runs takes 4, each full cycle takes 12 minutes. Your remaining 24 minutes fit two complete cycles.

Those are illustrative timings, not measured performance for a named mission. Substitute your own numbers. For repeat-solo Hexagons, multiply two completed runs by the calculator's selected repeat reward. For random mission loot, two attempts do not promise two copies of the target item.

#Example: a 60 minute session

With 60 minutes, reserve 12 for preparation and returning. Using the same illustrative 12-minute cycle leaves 48 minutes, enough for four complete cycles. Use floor((session minutes − preparation and return minutes) / cycle minutes); a partial cycle is not a completed mission.

If travel or failures consume more time, reduce the attempt count. When the preparation and return budget uses the whole session, choose a shorter objective instead. This simple capacity estimate is separate from the calculator's ongoing hourly rate.

#Keep a useful session record

Record the objective, mission or resource route, difficulty, current conditions, total minutes and completed runs or materials brought home. Mark setup and failures honestly. Compare similar sessions before choosing what to repeat, then use the PvE progression guide to connect that farming effort to your next goal.

FAQ

Common questions

Does the hourly Hexagon rate include a first-completion bonus?

No. The calculator models repeat-solo rewards. First-completion evidence is shown separately and is not added to that rate.

Are the 30 and 60 minute examples guaranteed yields?

No. They demonstrate scheduling with illustrative times. Enter your own run, downtime and return budget; only complete successful runs contribute mission rewards.

Can I compare mission loot and gathered resources with one rate?

Not directly. Choose the result you need and measure the whole process. A material location, a loot rate and a repeat currency payout describe different things.
