A PvE progression plan works best when the next unlock solves a problem you actually have. A reliable resource trip, a prepared boss attempt or a useful base upgrade is a better milestone than a long list of things to collect. Use the planner below to choose a direction, then check the exact encounter in game.
Before chasing a boss, make ordinary play repeatable. Keep food, water access, storage, repair materials and replacement equipment available. Establish a return point and learn the route between your base and the resources you regularly use. This is a recommended preparation order, not a hidden game requirement.
Choose a place you can use under the current official rules. A resource map identifies locations; it does not confirm that a spot is unoccupied or buildable.
Keep supplies for a replacement trip at home rather than taking everything you own.
Choose gathering and transport creatures for your current tasks. Their practical usefulness matters before a distant endgame goal.

Write down the job you want to improve: storage, base utility, travel or character progression. Check the specific engram's current unlock conditions and the cost of using it. Unlocking a structure, crafting it and keeping it powered are separate steps.
Do not assume every boss grants the same rewards or that completing an encounter on one survivor advances another. Use the survivor whose progression you intend to keep, and verify the boss and difficulty against the in-game requirements. The planner is a decision worksheet; it does not calculate a guaranteed shortest route.
In the Official PvE planner, choose First useful Tek, Utility / logistics or Ascension / character progress, then select “Prepare this goal”. The existing preparation checklist opens with that goal attached. It does not select a boss for you: record the exact encounter you checked in game, then choose its map and difficulty.

#Make a first useful Tek goal usable after the unlock
Keep three lists: what grants the unlock, what crafts the item and what keeps it operating. For the first list, record the exact engram, encounter, difficulty and intended survivor after checking them in the current game. For the second, copy the current crafting requirements and mark what is missing. For the third, check power, fuel and any supporting structure requirements for that particular item.
Use the resource atlas to research supported gathering locations after identifying your missing materials. A location is not a quantity, a guaranteed yield or proof that the spot is available. Keep unlisted materials on your own list rather than treating the atlas as a complete recipe calculator.
In the first useful Tek preparation checklist, record the exact encounter and paste the live tribute requirements. Tick the preparation checks, then copy the remaining tasks for your group. Your copied list records your checks; it does not independently verify the unlock or predict a win.
Playing alone describes your group, not your settings. Do not copy a single-player boss demonstration, taming time or boosted-server resource estimate without checking the conditions it used. On official, plan around the current server rules and the preparation you can sustain.
If the next encounter requires more coordination than you can provide, extend preparation or arrange a group with clear roles. Group size in this planner is descriptive; it is not an arena capacity. Confirm the allowed participants and creatures separately for your chosen encounter.
Ascension planning adds character requirements and encounter-specific preparation to your ordinary base loop. Completing a preliminary boss does not, by itself, mean you are equipped for the next stage. Keep a short record of the survivor, encounter and difficulty you completed, then choose the next useful milestone. Avoid planning around a universal level-cap number: map ownership, completed content and current game updates can change the character's available progression.
