Artifact guides often assume PvE conditions. Small Tribes does not. The route can be correct on paper and still be wrong if an alpha tribe owns the entrance, watches upload timing or farms repeated cave patterns.
This page does not recommend exploits, mesh routes or fake safe paths. It helps you decide whether to run, wait, swap map or use a carry/tribute alternative.
How blocked-cave meta changes artifact runs
A blocked cave turns artifact farming into PvP logistics. You are solving scouting, timing, escape path, backup kit and whether the reward is worth revealing activity.
- Scout before bringing your real kit.
- Do not repeat the same timing after one failed run.
- Use a cheap check before moving valuable tames.
- Have a stash and exit plan before entering.
Map-by-map route thinking
The Island has classic artifact pressure because progression funnels everyone into known caves. The Center can offer alternatives but also attracts cave control. Scorched Earth often shifts the problem to desert travel and terminal timing. The right map is the one with the least player contact, not the cleanest wiki entry.
What gear to bring
Bring what lets you finish and leave, not your whole base value. Cheap armor, backup weapons, consumables, grapples or mobility tools can be worth more than expensive gear that makes death hurt.
When to swap maps
Swap maps when the cave owner is online, the route is repeatedly watched, or the artifact has a lower-risk equivalent elsewhere. Do not turn pride into a wipe.
When a carry saves more than it costs
If the route is blocked beyond reason, check the tribute checklist and ask in Discord about current boss-seat or tribute alternatives before you donate more kits to the cave entrance.
