A wipe hurts because it steals momentum. The trap is trying to recreate the base you lost, which usually means farming too visibly and giving the same raiders an easier second hit.
Recovery is a sequence: stabilize, hide value, restore crafting, add defense, then chase Tek and revenge. Only buy shortcuts that solve the immediate bottleneck.
The first 30 minutes
Get away from the death site, check uploads or surviving stashes, regroup the tribe and decide whether the old area is burned. Do not farm heavy resources while tilted.
- Move survivors and remaining cryos/value first.
- Check uploads, beds, allies and hidden boxes.
- Pick a temporary hide, not a dream base.
Hour 1 to hour 6
Build a tiny working loop: tools, storage, smithy/fabricator path, tame or mount for farming, and enough defense to punish beach griefers. Split value immediately so one scout does not find everything.
Day 1 rebuild priorities
Solo players should stay quiet and compact. Duo players can split farming and scouting. Trio/full groups can stage a stronger kit, but they still need defense before comfort and backups before flex.
What to buy vs what to grind
Buy only what compresses the vulnerable window: structures, ammo, basic resources, farming tools, a starter kit or one replacement line. Luxury dinos and oversized visible packages can turn recovery into bait.
Shorten the painful part
If the first six hours are the bottleneck, compare base kits, resources and current Discord support.
