ARK Burrowbuck Guide (ASA): Abilities, Tunnels and How It Works

The Burrowbuck is a new creature from the Fantastic Tames DLC pack for ARK Survival Ascended (its spawn class is the jackalope). It is not a fighter - it has a single basic attack with no debuff - but it is one of the more interesting utility tames, built around mobility, stealth and a flexible tunnel system.

Mobility and Stealth

The Burrowbuck moves exceptionally well. Holding the jump key charges a big leap, and you can follow it with two more jumps in the air, giving it real vertical and horizontal reach across the map. Its standout defensive tool is a right-click invisibility: it hides you from both players and wild creatures so you can slip away from a bad situation, which makes it a strong scouting and escape mount.

The Tunnel System

The Burrowbuck's real value is its three tunnel types, selectable above your hotbar.

• Trap tunnels - place up to three; any enemy that passes over one is immobilized for a few seconds. Useful for peeling attackers or setting an ambush.
• Bunker tunnel - opens a mini bunker you can place structures inside as a temporary base. It only lasts about two days, so do not store anything you cannot afford to lose.
• Teleporter tunnels - place up to six and move instantly between them. Set one as a fixed destination to teleport while mounted, or dismount and choose which tunnel to travel to.

What It Is Good For

The Burrowbuck is a support and mobility pick rather than a combat tame. The invisibility and jumps make it excellent for scouting and getting out of danger, the trap tunnels add battlefield control, and the teleporter network is a genuine quality-of-life upgrade for moving around a base or map quickly. It does not have many abilities, but the ones it has are strong.
