Building Templates on Xbox and PlayStation
Short answer: you cannot import a template file on console, and that is true of every template site, not just this one. The reason is worth two minutes if you are about to spend an evening looking for a workaround.
Template Hammer imports a build by reading it out of your system clipboard. On PC that is a paste. On Xbox and PlayStation a game cannot read a clipboard you can paste into, so there is nothing for the hammer to read. Nobody has solved this from the website side, because it is not solvable from the website side.
What console players can do is use Template Hammer entirely in-game: save a build you made yourself and re-place it elsewhere. The tool works. It is the bridge from outside the game that does not exist.
What actually works
- Save and re-place your own buildsTemplate Hammer's in-game save and place works on console. Build once, keep the template, place it again on another base or another server.
- Rebuild a community layout by handEvery template page here lists its full piece breakdown — every structure type and its exact count. That is enough to reproduce a layout manually, and it is the part most guides leave out.
- Ask your unofficial server adminSome third-party mods add an in-game importer that fetches builds by ID instead of through the clipboard. They only work where the server runs the mod, so official servers are out.
Common questions
Can I use building templates on Xbox or PlayStation?
Not from this site. Template Hammer imports a build by reading it out of your system clipboard, and neither Xbox nor PlayStation gives a game access to a clipboard you can paste into. That is a platform restriction, not a Template Hammer limitation, so no website can hand a console player a file to import.
Why does everything say PC only?
Because the import step is PC only. Console players can build, save and place their own templates in-game with Template Hammer — what they cannot do is bring one in from outside the game. Every template on this site is a file, so every template on this site is PC only, and we label it rather than let you find out after downloading.
Is there any way to get a community build on console?
Some third-party mods add an in-game importer that fetches a build by ID over the network, sidestepping the clipboard. Those only work where the server runs that mod, which excludes official servers. If your unofficial server admin installs one, that is your route.
Can I copy a template from a PC friend?
Only if the copy happens on PC. If your friend places the build on a server you both play, you can learn the layout and rebuild it by hand — the structure and piece breakdown on each template page is the fastest way to do that, since it tells you exactly what the build is made of.
Will console support ever arrive?
It needs either clipboard access on console or a first-party in-game importer. We are not going to promise a date for something that depends on a platform decision we do not control. If it changes, these pages change with it.
On PC after all?
The whole library is free — copy the JSON or download the native file and import it with Template Hammer.
On console and want the build anyway?
We build to order on your own server, on any platform. Tell us the layout and where it goes.
